North West PV, Common Questions
Is North West PV SEAI-registered?
North West PV is listed on the SEAI register for solar PV panel installation in Cork (checked July 2026). Registration can change, so confirm it on the SEAI registered contractor search (https://hes.seai.ie/GrantProcess/ContractorSearch.aspx) before you book.
How do I get a quote from North West PV?
Contact North West PV directly using the phone number on this page. Nothing goes through us, there is no booking fee, and your details are not passed to anyone else or sold on.
What areas does North West PV cover?
North West PV is based in Cork and takes work across the county, including Cork city, Ballincollig, Carrigaline, Midleton, Mallow, Bandon, Cobh, Fermoy, Kinsale and Macroom. Most installers cover their whole county rather than one town, so it is worth confirming your own address when you call.
Do I need to use an installer based in Cork?
No. SEAI registration is national rather than county by county, so a contractor listed under a neighbouring county can quote for your home and handle the grant the same way. Getting two or three quotes is the only reliable way to see what the work should cost.
Does North West PV only do solar PV panel installation?
On the SEAI register they are listed for solar PV panel installation. They may well do other work, but solar PV panel installation is the measure their registration covers, so it is the one they can process a grant for.
Should anything be done before the installation?
Insulation comes first on any home energy upgrade. A well-sealed house needs a smaller system and runs at a lower cost, and attic and wall insulation carry SEAI grants of their own. Ask about the fabric of the house when you speak to North West PV.
The Other Trades a Cork Retrofit Needs
A renewable heating upgrade rarely happens on its own, and the order the work goes in decides what it costs. These are SEAI-registered trades covering Cork on our sister sites, each one worth lining up before the heating work starts rather than after.
- While the scaffolding is up Roofers in Cork If external wall insulation is going on, the scaffolding is already up and paid for. That is the cheapest time to deal with the roof, and solar panels want a sound roof under them.
- Alongside the installation Electricians in Cork A heat pump needs its own supply and isolator, and solar panels need the inverter tied into the consumer unit and the ESB notification handled. Both are electrician work.
SEAI Heat Pump Grant for Work by North West PV
SEAI support for a heat pump is up to €12,500 (as of July 2026) for eligible homes. Ask North West PV how the grant application and payment would work for your job, and confirm the details with SEAI before any work starts.
It is worth knowing how the total breaks down before the survey. The heat pump itself carries €6,500, a Renewable Heat Bonus applies where you are replacing an oil, gas, solid fuel or electric storage system, and a further amount goes towards heating system upgrades such as new radiators. Asking for the quote to set those out separately makes the net figure clear rather than leaving it to be worked out later.
