The SEAI heat pump grant covers a major share of the cost of switching an Irish home to a heat pump, worth up to €12,500 in total for a typical house as of July 2026. It is run by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland on behalf of the government, and it is the single biggest reason to make sure your installer is registered.

The support increased sharply on 3 February 2026 and now stacks up from three parts. An air-to-water or ground source system, the kind that heats your whole home and hot water, attracts up to €6,500 for the heat pump itself. Homes replacing an oil, gas, solid fuel or electric storage system get a €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus on top, and up to €2,000 more covers heating system upgrades such as new radiators where the technical survey calls for them. An air-to-air system attracts up to €7,500 in total, and apartments qualify at lower amounts.

You apply to SEAI once the work is agreed with a registered installer. After the installation and paperwork, SEAI pays the grant into your bank account, usually within six to eight weeks.
