PSL Mechanical, Common Questions

What areas does PSL Mechanical cover?
PSL Mechanical is based in Cavan and takes work across the county, including Cavan town, Monaghan (border), Virginia, Bailieborough, Cootehill, Ballyconnell and Belturbet. Most installers cover their whole county rather than one town, so it is worth confirming your own address when you call.
Does PSL Mechanical only do heat pump installation?
On the SEAI register they are listed for heat pump installation. They may well do other work, but heat pump installation is the measure their registration covers, so it is the one they can process a grant for.
Should anything be done before the installation?
Insulation comes first on any home energy upgrade. A well-sealed house needs a smaller system and runs at a lower cost, and attic and wall insulation carry SEAI grants of their own. Ask about the fabric of the house when you speak to PSL Mechanical.
What grant can I claim on work by PSL Mechanical?
Grants may be available for eligible homes. SEAI lists support of up to €12,500 for the full heat pump package as of July 2026, and SEAI decides eligibility. Confirm how the application and payment work with PSL Mechanical and with SEAI before any work starts.
The Other Trades a Cavan Retrofit Needs
A renewable heating upgrade rarely happens on its own, and the order the work goes in decides what it costs. These are SEAI-registered trades covering Cavan on our sister sites, each one worth lining up before the heating work starts rather than after.
- Alongside the installation Plumbers and gas installers in Cavan Taking out an old oil or gas boiler, reworking the heating circuit and fitting the hot water cylinder is usually done by a registered plumber, and a heat pump is usually commissioned by a qualified, registered professional.
- Alongside the installation Electricians in Cavan A heat pump needs its own supply and isolator, and solar panels need the inverter tied into the consumer unit and the ESB notification handled. Both are electrician work.
SEAI Heat Pump Grant for Work by PSL Mechanical
SEAI support for a heat pump is up to €12,500 (as of July 2026) for eligible homes. Ask PSL Mechanical how the grant application and payment would work for your job, and confirm the details with SEAI before any work starts.
It is worth knowing how the total breaks down before the survey. The heat pump itself carries €6,500, a Renewable Heat Bonus applies where you are replacing an oil, gas, solid fuel or electric storage system, and a further amount goes towards heating system upgrades such as new radiators. Asking for the quote to set those out separately makes the net figure clear rather than leaving it to be worked out later.
