Welfit, Common Questions
Is Welfit SEAI-registered?
Welfit is listed on the SEAI register for heat pump installation in Cork (checked July 2026). Registration can change, so confirm it on the SEAI registered contractor search (https://hes.seai.ie/GrantProcess/ContractorSearch.aspx) before you book.
How do I get a quote from Welfit?
Contact Welfit directly using the phone number on this page. Nothing goes through us, there is no booking fee, and your details are not passed to anyone else or sold on.
What areas does Welfit cover?
Welfit is based in Cork and takes work across the county, including Cork city, Ballincollig, Carrigaline, Midleton, Mallow, Bandon, Cobh, Fermoy, Kinsale and Macroom. Most installers cover their whole county rather than one town, so it is worth confirming your own address when you call.
Does my home in Cork qualify for a grant?
A home built and occupied before 2021 usually qualifies. Housing across Cork varies a lot, so the survey decides rather than the county. A registered installer confirms eligibility during a free survey before anything is committed.
Do I need to use an installer based in Cork?
No. SEAI registration is national rather than county by county, so a contractor listed under a neighbouring county can quote for your home and handle the grant the same way. Getting two or three quotes is the only reliable way to see what the work should cost.
What can Welfit install?
They are registered with SEAI for heat pump installation, solar thermal and biomass boilers. A contractor registered for more than one measure can fit them together and claim both grants, which saves coordinating two jobs.
The Other Trades a Cork Retrofit Needs
A renewable heating upgrade rarely happens on its own, and the order the work goes in decides what it costs. These are SEAI-registered trades covering Cork on our sister sites, each one worth lining up before the heating work starts rather than after.
- Alongside the installation Plumbers and gas installers in Cork Taking out an old oil or gas boiler, reworking the heating circuit and fitting the hot water cylinder is usually done by a registered plumber, and a heat pump is usually commissioned by a qualified, registered professional.
- Alongside the installation Electricians in Cork A heat pump needs its own supply and isolator, and solar panels need the inverter tied into the consumer unit and the ESB notification handled. Both are electrician work.
SEAI Heat Pump Grant for Work by Welfit
SEAI support for a heat pump is up to €12,500 (as of July 2026) for eligible homes. Ask Welfit how the grant application and payment would work for your job, and confirm the details with SEAI before any work starts.
It is worth knowing how the total breaks down before the survey. The heat pump itself carries €6,500, a Renewable Heat Bonus applies where you are replacing an oil, gas, solid fuel or electric storage system, and a further amount goes towards heating system upgrades such as new radiators. Asking for the quote to set those out separately makes the net figure clear rather than leaving it to be worked out later.
